About Keystone Montessori Academy

Our Philosophy

The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind...

-Dr. Maria Montessori

As guiders, researchers, and co-learners, we strive to nurture each child’s natural potential. As educators, our role is to recognize the child’s ability to grow in every developmental area and provide the right environment to build their skills. By giving access to hands-on activities and allowing adequate time and space to use materials that emphasize the lesson being studied, we create opportunities for individual discovery and the construction of knowledge.

We are inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori’s method. The Montessori Method is a unique, scientific approach that fulfills a child’s mental and physical needs while encouraging maturity, self-discipline, and self-esteem. With a positive and enthusiastic attitude, we aim to improve their education and brighten their future.

Free the child’s potential and you will free the child…

- Dr. Maria Montessori

The Montessori method has been applied for many years in diverse environments. Its hallmark is peer learning through multi-age classrooms, which create a sense of community and provide older students with opportunities to reinforce their knowledge and abilities.

A full complement of specially designed learning materials is carefully arranged to promote active learning. Children learn within their own limits, focusing on concentration that fosters independence, freedom, coordination, and a sense of order. Each student’s unique learning style is valued in Montessori classrooms, allowing them to progress at their own pace. Guided by teachers through an individualized learning plan, children advance through a thoughtfully structured curriculum.

As they grow, children develop the ability to self-assess and self-correct, gaining confidence and responsibility. We are committed to allowing every child to reach their full potential and become an independent, secure individual—embodying the true spirit of the Montessori method.

All children, of all ages, have five critical needs in common which stay with them throughout their lives…

- Dr. Gerald Newmark

At Keystone Montessori, we are committed to nurturing emotionally healthy children by meeting their needs for respect, acceptance, inclusion, and a secure environment. We strive to build positive and meaningful relationships, recognizing that learning is strengthened through shared care and concern.

Understanding the importance of interpersonal connections, we provide children with varied opportunities to communicate and apply their abilities. We believe it is essential to respect, accept, and value our differences in order to grow as responsible citizens of the world.

Our goal is to inspire families to feel a sense of commitment and dedication to their children’s growth and to our school community.

Our Mission

At Keystone Montessori Academy Whittier, we believe every child is unique and brings their own natural intelligence. Children need a secure, caring, and inspiring environment in which to grow and mature intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially.

We challenge and support each child to reach their fullest potential in every area of development by providing a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment—while meeting their essential emotional needs for respect, acceptance, inclusion, and security.
