Bhagya Wijewardane has been in the educational field for many years and brings a wealth of successful experiences. She opened Keystone Montessori Academy with the purpose of creating a positive environment for her own children. The academy was built upon four core values: Safety, Education, Nutrition, and a Challenging yet Nurturing Environment.
After earning her degree in Computer-Aided Design and Architecture, Bhagya worked as a Telecommunication Designer for a prestigious company, collaborating with LAUSD schools to design cable plants. Seeking to provide her children with a strong cultural and family foundation, she returned to her home country of Sri Lanka. While instilling essential cultural values in her children, she also pursued her AMI Diploma Certificate.
Upon returning, Bhagya completed a postgraduate diploma in Early Childhood Education from UCLA, earning a Certificate of Distinction. She later obtained her California Site Supervisor Permit, along with several professional training certificates in California Regulations, Child Abuse, Safety, Coaching and Mentoring for Professional Growth, Marketing, and Business Management. To this day, Bhagya continues to work closely with educational and childcare professionals to expand her knowledge and expertise.
From a young age, Bhagya displayed strong leadership qualities. She served as both junior and senior prefect, honored her Girl Scout promise, and actively participated in school clubs such as Broadcasting, English Literature, Interact/Rotary, and Interschools Drug Prevention. Her dedication and academic excellence earned her the second-highest GPA in middle school, opening opportunities to take on greater responsibilities, join sports teams, and compete in various events.
Today, Bhagya is an avid blogger across multiple platforms, sharing valuable insights with parents on child development and growth. She is a loving mother of two girls, a dedicated Girl Scout troop leader, a realtor, and above all, a lifelong learner.
Our teachers’ dedication, commitment, and love for children are of the highest value. They work tirelessly to support each child in achieving their future goals. Our teachers take on many roles—educators, guides, role models, leaders, observers, and partners to parents. Teaching is a profession with the greatest rewards, and our teachers are both our school’s pride and spirit.
Parents are equally vital to our community, and we always welcome their support. We believe parent involvement directly benefits both the children and the school. Feedback and perspectives from families are greatly appreciated, as Keystone Montessori works together as a family for the success of our students.
Our aspiration is to create an inviting and diverse environment for every child. Clean classrooms, adequate learning materials, and enriching opportunities support our students as they explore, learn, experiment, and grow in independence. It is truly a joy to see them develop positive self-esteem, respect, discipline, and self-confidence.
